To Dye For, Part I

I spent a wonderful week last summer up at Women’s Studio Workshop, learning the art of indigo dyeing and paper-making from the amazing artist, Mary Hark. We divided our time between making hand-made paper and learning shibori dying techniques on fabric (with plenty of freedom to experiment.) This post will show you some photos of the shibori dye process. My next post covers hand-made paper, which I will show in the 2017 BWAC Spring show. (You can read that post here.)

My spring 2016 BWAC show includes several shibori fabric pieces, as well as my artist book called Sky Pockets, which is Coptic-bound from some of my shibori prints. I suppose you could say I am in my blue period!
